Assistant Building Official

SALARY: $67,059 - $87,176 (DOQ) annually with excellent benefits package 

 

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The purpose of this classification is to perform highly responsible professional work assisting in the planning, organizing, coordinating, and supervising of the daily activities of the Town’s Development Department Construction Codes division.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with major course work in Architecture, Engineering or a closely related field supplemented by six (6) years’ experience in building codes enforcement at a professional level; at least one (1) of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

 

SPECIAL REQUISITES:  Must obtain certification as a Building Official and a Combination Inspector through a recognized certification program within one (1) year of employment and maintain certification throughout employment.

 

LICENSES:  Valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License at the time of hire.

 

NOTES: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (10 – 20 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.

 

Selection process may include: examinations, interviews, assessment centers, practical skills, etc. Drug testing may be required.
